If you've been following me for a little bit, you know that I'm deeply concerned about the climate crisis. One of the things that continues to amuse me is how (and why?) we chose non-degradable materials for our single-use products. When you walk into a coffee shop in America you'll notice that most people drink from single-use cups.
This year I've decided I'm going to reduce my use of plastic/single-use products and I think everyone should do the same. Either ask for a mug to stay, or bring your own to-go cup! Make a conscious choice and change your daily routine!
Of course, bigger changes will come from lawmakers banning plastic. But this change won't happen if we don't act upon it, raise awareness and change our habits.
"16 billion disposable coffee cups are used each year. These are coated with plastic to laminate the inside and use plastic lids. The world produces more than 14 million US tons of polystyrene (plastic foam) each year. Americans alone throw away around 25 billion Styrofoam cups every year".
